Many of us have heard about this ancient medicinal herb known as Ashwagandha, a kind of adaptogen used in the preparation of herbal medicines.
Ashwagandha has many qualities and provides numerous benefits to our body and helps to boost brain functions.
Today we will focus on one of the aspects which we are always curious about and that is related to increasing our height.
Ashwagandha is derived from Sanskrit words Ashwa means horse, and Gandha means smell which refers to both its unique smell and ability to increase strength. Ashwagandha is one of the most important herbs used in the preparation of Ayurvedic medicine.
The central factor that influences our height is by our genetic makeup. Height is largely determined by DNA. However, many other factors can determine height during growth, including nutrition, hormones, activity levels, and medical conditions.
Nutrition plays a very important role in growth. Adequate nutrition and calcium help our bones to grow. Working out, playing outdoor sports, and stretching increases the significant amount of growth hormones.
Height contributes to the overall personality of a person. Scientists have found that GABA (gamma amino-butyric acid) in the brain helps in the human growth hormone.
A balance in hormonal chemical and cell rejuvenation boosts the growth hormone in the body. Thus, the human growth hormone (HGH) can substantially be increased by adding Ashwagandha root extract in the diet.
However Ashwagandha is not a magic supplement, and, proper nutrition, exercise, and rest are the only things that will facilitate your height growth.
Anxiety: Ashwagandha has a calming effect on anxiety symptoms. The herb could reduce anxiety levels.
Arthritis: Ashwagandha acts on the nervous system to prevent pain signals from being sent to the brain. It’s also deemed to have anti-inflammatory properties.
Heart health: Ashwagandha may have a variety of benefits to heart health, including treating: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chest pain, heart disease
Cancer: the herb has the potential to slow human cancers including breast, lung, kidney, and prostate.
The thyroid is a metabolic disorder that affects the production of thyroxine in the body. It is linked with cardiovascular diseases and abnormal production of thyroid hormones.
Thyroid glands are of two types viz hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Hyperthyroidism is the excess production of thyroid hormone and hypothyroidism is lower production.
The common cause of thyroid is stress. Excess tension triggers this metabolic dysfunction in most of human beings.
On the other hand, ashwagandha is widely known for its magical properties for fighting stress and inflammation.
Consumption of this herb regularly can help your body in controlling excess strain and anxiety leading to a significant decrease in the thyroid.
This herb can boost thyroid hormone levels in the body, therefore is advised only for the patients of hypothyroidism.
Also, due to the opposite effects of both types of the thyroid, the consumption of ashwagandha can worsen hyperthyroidism symptoms.
It is highly advised to consume this ayurvedic medicine only after consulting your doctor.
The dosage and the way ashwagandha is used depends on the condition you’re trying to treat. There isn’t a standard dosage that’s been studied by modern clinical trials.
Ashwagandha may be used in powdered form in dosages ranging from 450 milligrams to 2 grams. You can buy it in capsules, powders, or as a liquid extract from health food or supplement stores.
Ashwagandha is generally considered well-tolerated in small to medium doses, however mild to moderate side effects such as headache, sleepiness, and stomach upset have been reported in clinical studies.
But there haven’t been enough long-term studies on the safety of ashwagandha supplements.
Pregnant women should avoid using ashwagandha because it can cause early delivery.
During your growing years, you must get all of the nutrients your body needs. Your diet should involve fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, whole grains, proteins, dairy, etc. and you should limit or avoid foods containing sugar, trans fats, saturated fats.
Occasionally reducing sleeping hours won’t affect your height in the long run. But during adolescence, if you regularly sleep less than the recommended amount, it may lead to complexities. This is because your body releases HGH (Human Growth Hormone) while you sleep.
Production of this hormone and others may go down if you aren’t getting enough sleep.
Regular exercise strengthens your muscles and bones and helps you to maintain a healthy weight, which in turn increases HGH production.
We should focus on strength-building exercises, such as pushups or situps flexibility exercises, such as yoga aerobic activities, such as jumping rope, or biking
Exercising has its benefits to help you maintain your overall health, it can also help reduce your risk of osteoporosis. This condition occurs when your bones become weak or brittle, resulting in bone density loss. This can cause you to “shrink.” To reduce your risk, try walking, playing tennis, or practicing yoga several times a week.
Poor posture may make you look shorter than you are. Your back should curve naturally in three places. If you regularly slump or slouch, these curves may shift to accommodate a new posture and can cause pain in your neck and back.
Depending on your needs, a standing desk or memory foam pillow may be all that’s needed to correct your posture. You can also practice exercises designed to improve your posture over time.
If you’re unsure of where to begin, talk to your doctor. They can help develop an exercise routine that’s right for you.
If targeted posture exercises aren’t your thing, give yoga a try. This whole-body practice can strengthen your muscles, align your body, and help with your posture. This will help you stand taller.
You can practice yoga in the comfort of your own home or a group setting at your local gym or studio. If you aren’t sure where to start, search for a beginner yoga routine on YouTube.
